Tsa Tsa or miniature stupas are cylindrical cone shaped structures made from red clay using a metal mould containing sacred images. Tsa Tsa can also be considered as a small chortens or stupas but nevertheless they evoke the same powers and benefits as the largest stupas. There are two types of Tsa Tsa, smaller Tsa Tsas contains the impression of eight stupas and larger Tsa Tsas with hundred and eight stupas.
After recitation of different mantras, tsa tsas filled with relics and sacred mantras are placed in caves and stupas.
Making Tsa Tsa accumalates merits and purifies all obscuration. To honour the deceased, Tsa Tsas are also mixed with their ashes and placed in caves or other important sites.
